The Stables at the Bishop’s Lodge Ranch Resort & Spa

Welcome to the Bishop’s Lodge Ranch Resort and Spa. We are glad to have you as our guests and look forward to riding with you. This is a brief synopsis of our equine program.

We offer scenic guided trail rides through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. We ride western style and our friendly wranglers will accompany you on the ride.

The group rides, BBQ, and Cowboy Breakfast rides are ridden at a walk.

Private Rides in the afternoons are more flexible and, depending on your horseback riding experience level, offer the option of some trotting and cantering.

You are encouraged to come visit with us and meet the horses any time. We do an orientation prior to the rides, and instruction is given on the trail. We believe that your riding experience is enhanced through a greater understanding of the nature of the horse.

Our weight limit is 225 lbs and children must be 8 years of age to ride the trails. For younger children, we offer wrangler led horseback rides in the arena. Please contact the stable for a kids ride.

Stables are open daily from 8 am to 5 pm.

Reservations:

All rides must be reserved in advance by speaking directly with a wrangler. Height, weight, age, and level of riding experience are required for each person riding upon making a reservation. Children must be 8 years or older with height minimum of 4 feet six inches to trail ride. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled ride.

Group Rides:

A scenic walking ride through our pristine high country. Offered DAILY in the morning and afternoon.

Private Rides:

Riders have the option of limited trotting and cantering depending on experience. Rides are offered DAILY and based upon availability.

BBQ Dinner Ride:

A horseback ride to our Mesa top for an authentic western barbeque cookout. Offered Wednesdays and Fridays. Twenty-four hour advance reservations required.

Sunset Ride:

A horseback ride for one hour to the top of our Mesa with gorgeous sunset views. Offered Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Kids Rides:

For children 7 and under, rides are offered DAILY at 11:15 am and 12:15 pm. Ride is for 15 minutes and the little Buckaroos receive a bandanna, cowboy hat and a sheriff’s badge as keepsakes.

All rides must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Rides must be cancelled by 5 pm the day before the scheduled ride or a saddling fee will be charged for each rider.

No call, no show riders will be charged the full price or the ride scheduled, plus a 20% gratuity to the wranglers. Parties of 6 or more will be charged 20% gratuity per person.
