2010 Team Building and Group Recreation


Plato once said, "You can learn more about a person in an afternoon of play than in a year of conversation."

The Bishop's Lodge Ranch Resort & Spa is proud to offer an expanded Team Building and Group Recreation program with a our trained Group Facilitator onsite. Team Building activities can be a fun and constructive part of any Business Conference or Corporate Retreat.

A sample of our team building activities follows. Pricing ranges from $10 - $75 per person.

2 Hour Events


Backwoods Games
Objectives Covered: Comfort Zones, Camaraderie, and Thinking Objectively
Events include pie eating contest, hog calling, seed spitting, "hillbilly" horseshoes, and much more. 10 person minimum

Chili Cook Off
Objectives Covered: Teamwork, Communication, Comfort Zones, Physical and Mental Challenges
The group is broken up into equal teams. Each team will have to cook their own chili using the spices available to them and create a marketing piece to sell their product. 10 person minimum, 50 person maximum

1 Hour Events


Jungle Escape
Objectives Covered: Communication, Memory, Teamwork, Time Management, Camaraderie, and Frustration
Teams will have to try and build a helicopter using a variety of specific pieces in order to escape the jungle. The teams’ helicopter must be an exact replica of the one the facilitator hides behind a curtain. 10 person minimum

Claw
Objectives Covered: Communication, Teamwork, Trust, Problem Solving, and Leadership
Each team member stands around a circle holding a strand of rope. All ropes are connected to a hook that is used to retrieve an object from the middle of the circle. First time everyone can see, second time, all but one is blindfolded. 10 person minimum

Mine Field
Objectives Covered: Trust, Communication, and Time Management
This event focuses on training. Each team member is blindfolded except for one person who is the communicator. The communicator must talk their team members through an obstacle course. 10 person minimum

Land Scavenger Hunt
Objectives Covered: Teamwork, Communication, and Time Management
Explore Bishops Lodge, following clues to various locations on property. Each team will be given a list of items to find and locations to go to. Fastest team to finish, wins. 10 person minimum

30 Minute Events


Tangled
Objectives Covered: Problem Solving, Comfort Zones, and Frustration
In teams of twos, each person has a string tied to both of his or her own wrists. The strings are crossed connecting them together. The two members must separate themselves from each other without removing the string from their wrists. 10 person minimum

Lost on the Moon
Objectives Covered: Communication, Problem Solving, and Teamwork
Each team has crash landed on the moon. Using a checklist of items the team must rank each item according to its importance to their survival. Each person will do a checklist on their own and one as a team, this will show that they are better as a team than individuals. 10 person minimum

Egg Drop
Objectives Covered: Teamwork, Problem Solving, and Communication
Using a variety of materials, each team must build an “egg holder” that can protect their egg from a drop. Each team that makes the first drop will go to a higher drop and so on. 10 person minimum

Magic Carpet Ride
Objectives Covered: Communication, Team Work, and Problem Solving
Each team is on a magic carpet but realize it is upside down. The team must turn the carpet over without stepping off of it. 10 person minimum

Human Labyrinth
Objectives Covered: Trust, Communication, and Comfort Zones
One person from each team is blind folded and wrapped with 20 foot of clear surgical tubing. Teams will have to verbally tell the blind folded individual how to move to get a ball bearing from one end of the tubing to the other. 10 person minimum

Who Dropped the Ball
Objectives Covered: Trust, Hand-Eye Coordination, Communication
There are 21 tennis balls with a word written on the ball relating to business relationships and success.  When balls are put into "play" you must toss the ball to the same person each time causing a continuous circulation of tennis balls.  Once a ball is dropped from "play" that person must explain what the meaning of the word on the ball means in relationship to success in work. 10 person minimum

Block Talk
Objectives Covered: Communication and Attention to Detail
Two people sit back to back with identical pieces in front of them. Only one person can talk and that person has to tell the other in detail what they are building. The other person has to try and build the same thing using the instructions of the talker.

30 Minute Events


I Have Never
Everyone sits in a circle. Each person is given a handful of cards or objects. Each person will tell the group of something they have never done. If someone in the circle has done this they must toss a card or object into the middle of the circle. A great way to get to know everyone in the group. 10 person minimum

Am/Seen
Each person is given a set of note cards with describing words on them. Each person then places the cards under the name of the person they consider most appropriate. The group will then discuss how people perceive themselves and how it differs from other points of view. 10 person minimum

15 Minute Events


Stretch Breaks
A surprise meeting break that includes our enthusiastic Activities Team, music, fun and games, and snacks. This break will get the blood flowing and reduce stress. 10 person minimum

Who Am I
The names of famous people will be placed on the backs of each person as they enter into the room. Each person will go around the room asking questions as to who they might be. They can only ask one question per person and cannot visit a pervious player until they have visited all other players first. 10 person minimum

Who Is It
Everyone writes down one fact about themselves that nobody else would know using no names. All facts are put into a hat and drawn one at a time. One person reads the fact and everyone tries to guess who it is. 10 person minimum

M & M Game
Each person picks a colored M & M from a package. A question is designated to each color. The individual must answer the question and explain why they gave that answer. 10 person minimum
