Memorial Day through August 31

For our resort guests between the ages of 4 and 12, we have a full day of planned activities and games, seven days a week (Children younger than 4 are welcome provided they are accompanied by a parent or approved baby-sitter who can attend to their special needs.)

Schedule
Our day begins at 8:00 a.m. on the front porch of the Main Lodge. We start off with a great breakfast and keep going through lunch until 4:00 p.m., ending at the swimming pool.Daytime activities may include pony rides, hiking, time on the playground, fishing in our pond, arts & crafts, and afternoons poolside (please send your child in the morning with a swimsuit and sunscreen in a marked bag).

Your child will be waiting for you at the swimming pool at 4:00 p.m. each afternoon when the day session is over. Parents wishing to arrange for after-hours childcare must do so in advance through the front desk - there will be no childcare available through the program after this time.

We meet again at 5:45 p.m. for dinner and evening activities such as cookouts, campfires, storytelling, lawn games and movies. This evening session is over at 9:00 p.m. when youngsters meet their parents back at the Main Lodge. If you are unable to meet your children at this time you must have made alternative childcare arrangements prior.

Our schedule will vary from day to day and may include special events like pool pizza parties, campfire cookouts, and theme nights. We usually hike up to "Mesa Vista" on breakfast ride mornings and meet those who have gone on horseback. The best times to meet up with us are at meal times, mid-morning at the pony ring, early afternoon at our activity room, and later on by the pool.

Charges
The services of The Bishop's Lodge Children's Program are included in the Modified American Plan package which also includes breakfast, lunch and dinner daily for your child (beginning with dinner on the day of arrival). To our European Plan guests the Children's Program is available as follows:

Reservations should be made for each of these sessions by notifying the counselors or the front desk prior to each session. All parents whose children are participating in the program are asked to sign a Medical Authorization and Liability Release before the child can be entered into the program. Please hand this completed form to the counselors to officially enter your child. During the program hours, children should not leave the group unless picked up by a parent.

Meals- Most of our meals are taken in our own special dining room, the Fiesta Room. Our children's menu strives to address parents' concerns for healthy foods and children's traditional preferences. Occasionally we may be out on a cookout or picnic. (Children who do not eat with us must be accompanied by an adult when eating in the restaurant.)

Riding - We work with a gentle horse just about every morning, taking turns going around the pony ring. Feeding and brushing our horse is a real treat. There is no charge for this activity. The Bishop's Lodge stables usually offers morning and/or afternoon trail rides for children over 8 years of age and over 4' in height, depending partly upon the availability of its "kid horses" (check with stables for current rates and availability, including its special "Buckaroo" sessions for those not quite ready for the regular trail ride). For regular trailrides, children must be signed up in advance by their parents who must also sign a riding release form (available at the stables and the front desk). Please let us know when you have signed your child up for any of these rides so that we may deliver and pick them up at the proper times.

Tennis- Classes for children are grouped by age and ability a couple times each week.Emphasis is on hitting a lot of balls and getting some exercise, but mostly we like to have fun! There is a $6.00 fee for this activity (the tennis pros really do run around a lot!), so make sure you let us know if you'd like your child to participate.

Fishing- Our trout pond (just above the stables) provides a great start for young anglers. We fish here several times a week (or you may wish to "show them how" (or vice-versa) after hours). Hooks, line and cheese (our fish prefer brie!) available at the front desk.

On Your Own- In addition to our program, there are many excursions in the area you may wish to consider for the whole family - trips to archeological ruins and historic sites, raft trips and chairlift rides. The Museum of International Folk Art, with its vast display of folkart "toys" from all over the world, is a place that children especially enjoy. Please check with us, the concierge, or the front desk for other great ideas.

We look forward to welcoming your child, and wish your entire family a fun and memorable stay at The Bishop's Lodge!
