Horseback Riding

Experience breathtaking views on guided trail rides though the foothills and canyons of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and adjacent Santa Fe National Forest. The Stable offers a wide variety of rides to accommodate everyone from the novice to the expert. Feel free to come down to the stables, pet some horses and talk to our friendly wranglers about setting up a ride perfectly suited for you! Don't forget to stop in at our Trading Post where you can find everything from cowboy hats and kerchiefs to cold drinks and cameras.

Trail Rides

Hearty trailside Breakfast Rides and old-fashioned Barbecue Sunset Rides are family favorites in the summertime. These rides are an hour on the trail with hearty meals atop our Mesa Vista campsite. Our 10:30 a.m. Group Ride is an hour and a half of spectacular views on some of the best horses in New Mexico. For those who want to kick up their heels a bit more, choose a Private Ride where you can walk, trot or canter. These rides, where you pick the day, time and length of the ride, are great for a more intimate riding adventure. Our group Sunset Ride provides a view of our famous Santa Fe sunsets and is an hour on the trail. Also, ask about our monthly Moonlight Rides.

Reservations

Reservations are required for all rides and can be made directly through the Stables at Extension 4013. In order to book a ride, the Stables requires the following information for each rider:
Name, Height, Weight, Age and Riding Experience.

Restrictions

We require that the riders are at least 8 years of age (sorry no exceptions). Weight limit is 225 lbs. (unless approved by Ranch Manager).

Kids' Rides

Pony Rides (actually very gentle full-size horses) are available for children age 7 and under on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 12:15 p.m. during the Summer Season (June, July & August). These rides are complimentary for The Bishop's Lodge guests only and no reservations are necessary. Simply show up at the corral on one of these designated days at 12:15 p.m.

Cancellation
Policy

If you must cancel, please do so at least 12 hours prior to the time of the ride. Failure to notify us of a cancellation 12 hours prior to your scheduled riding time will result in a $30 per person saddling fee.
